Welcome to Nature Deprived Blog

Talk about a view. This park is nestled along the Hudson River, just below the George Washington Bridge. Ross Dock Picnic Area, located on the New Jersey side of the Hudson is fabulous. This is THE spot to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle. My kids loved getting to play in the mud and even take a few rocks home. Definitely a place to visit in Hudson County. We went during March of 2020, so not hot. The perfect time to get down and dirty. This park was full of trails expanding along the slate hills and along the Hudson River. For our first trip, we just hung next to the shoreline. My kids and I are obsessed with looking at all the rocks. Next time around, we will explore the trails more. You can even have dogs at this park. I enjoyed it because there was plenty of space. If you need a quick fix nature feel, this is an amazing piece of nature to have in our backyard. It only took about 20 minutes from my home in Weehawken Nj. I love this place!! You can sit along the slate rocks and look at the city from afar. It’s quiet and clean. You really feel like you are far away, without traveling hours.

I highly recommend this state park. The only thing I did not like about it was that we went in the off season, which means only porta potty bathrooms. There was a designated building with bathrooms, but that was sadly closed, not fun when you are hiking with kids. I am sure we will all go back this summer, after the Coronavirus eases up a little.
